In all of our travels we often see these Free Library boxes. Now we are now living in Tacoma, WA and on my morning walks I go past many of these. Obviously, they are not all the same. You can purchase kits to build on of these or you can design and build you own. The Little Free Library Shop is a good source for these kits.

Some people have repurposed other items, like microwaves and newspaper boxes into free libraries.

This one looked like it was a residential mailbox, but when I opened it I found this. I’m not really sure why they looked it was a good idea to camouflage a free library, but . . . . .

The driving motto is “Take one, Leave one.” Sometimes I don’t have one to leave when I take one, but try to leave one within the next week or two. The idea is to constantly refresh each library with new books.
Some of these libraries focus on children’s books, some on books in general. I discovered one box that was only for puzzles.

I saw a meme on Facebook, that unfortunately I can’t find anymore about someone who takes a bunch of novels from a library and replaces them with old textbooks. Depending on what you are looking for this could be a good thing!

As a personal note, I picked this one up, read it and returned it and now it is in another library about a mile away from where I found it. By the way, this is an amazing story and I encourage everyone to find a copy and read it. You will not be disappointed!

Hello. Chuck and I always enjoyed your posts and meeting you both here in Lansing. Unfortunately Chuck Franke passed away February 1. He fell and hit his head resulting in multiple brain bleeds that took his life on this earth a few weeks later. He is with his Lord and Savior now. I look forward to seeing him again.
